I found a google group with a large discussion on android ICS for pandaboard, there is a lot of interesting stuff there: http://groups.google.com/group/android-building/browse_thread/thread/d12c1f7848991d56/ef7859210105747c?q=pandaboard&lnk=ol&

Well, I'm a sw engineer working on a project that's using android on pandaboard, that's as much as I can tell, but I'm a newbie sw engineer, and not involved with anything official
- [12:38:10] <DusteD>
Ah, updating the wiki? I'll do that if it needs no user account
- [12:39:04] <nobill>
DusteD: check out some vids of ICS running on the pandaboard, in most of them ICS is really smooth
- [12:40:05] <DusteD>
nobill, yes, I'm wonderinf if it's 0.3 or 0.1 they are using, I build 0.3
- [12:40:54] <nobill>
I just found this: going to flash 0.1 to test
- [12:41:02] <nobill>
(theres a binary version there)

hi everyone
- [13:18:01] <zgreg>
but I do think it's pretty strange that ICS isn't running completely smooth. I mean, I've seen ICS on a zte blade running pretty good, and that feature a slowly clocked single-core arm11 and a very slow adreno 200 gpu
- [13:19:54] <nicozeb>
i installed an angstrum distribution on my pandaboard... everything is ok. But I can't use the ethernet port of the board. When I run the command "ifconfig", I only see the "lo". How to use the ethernet interface on the Angstrom distribution.
- [13:19:59] * mina86|aw is now known as mina86
- [13:20:46] <reisei>
nicozeb: what do see with "ifconfig -a"?
- [13:21:24] <mru>
hmm, latest linaro-tilt kernel refuses to run 4460 at 1.6GHz with performance governor
- [13:21:48] <mru>
I can still set it manually
- [13:21:55] <LetoThe2nd>
mru: thats why they call it "tilt".
- [13:22:34] <nicozeb>
->reisei usb0 appears.. but no associated ip address.
- [13:23:15] <nicozeb>
what does it mean ?
- [13:24:10] <LetoThe2nd>
nicozeb: well did you set an ip adress or ensure that a dhcp client gets one? what do the rx and tx values in ifconfig for usb0 say?
- [13:24:37] <reisei>
nicozeb: it means that you need to setup usb0 interface
- [13:25:45] <nicozeb>
LetoThe2nd : 0 for both
- [13:26:14] <LetoThe2nd>
nicozeb: then i guess something is bad with the conencted cable/switch/hub/whatever
- [13:27:17] <reisei>
LetoThe2nd: there is usb0 interface and it has not been setup
- [13:28:04] <LetoThe2nd>
reisei: that means literally nothing. if it shows up, then the kernel knows about it and should be able to tell if there's traffic. also without a configured IP or such.
- [13:28:27] <nicozeb>
LetoThe2nd, reisei : how to setup the usb0 interface ? the ethernet cable is directly connected to my box.
- [13:29:04] <LetoThe2nd>
*facepalm
- [13:29:40] <LetoThe2nd>
reisei: your ticket. ;)
- [13:30:22] <reisei>
LetoThe2nd: ok :)

- [13:30:49] <reisei>
nicozeb: so, you need to write it in the /etc/network/intefaces
- [13:31:31] <reisei>
nicozeb: add to that file something like "iface usb0 inet dhcp" if you have dhcp-server in your net
- [13:32:04] <LetoThe2nd>
reisei: <hint> he pro????y wont have on his box. and: crosscable </hint>
- [13:32:19] <LetoThe2nd>
s/pro????y/prolly/
- [13:32:47] <reisei>
btw, what is box?
- [13:32:53] <mru>
most interfaces autodetect cable type nowadays
- [13:32:59] <reisei>
mru: +1
- [13:32:59] <mru>
iirc it's required for GbE
- [13:33:17] <mru>
so if at least one end is GbE any cable will work
- [13:33:23] <nicozeb>
reisei : ok. I will try that..
- [13:33:31] <LetoThe2nd>
mru: strange, i never thought you were one of the guys to actually trust specs.
- [13:33:50] <LetoThe2nd>
(but you're right, GbE spec demands it.)
- [13:33:52] <mru>
I don't trust specs
- [13:33:56] <mru>
but I've seen it work for real

- [13:38:20] <mru>
the onboard ones on one of my PCs don't even show up on a pci scan half the time
- [13:38:24] <zgreg>

Yeah but firstly I really like brute performance, secondly my usecase is mostly testing/development (in which I'll probably use the board for compilation too)
- [19:56:10] <jayabharath>
the_student: Ok. Yeah I woudl recommend to do a through research and first understand what you are really planning to use it for? that will hopefully give you the best solution to pic

But since the closest thing I can find to a Tegra 3 board (non-tablet) is supposedly a ARM-CUDA development board without a price (but sounding expensive)

is it my imagination or does the panda require serial console to boot?
- [22:21:49] <ron_frown>
I have a hdmi monitor connected, and if I toss my sd in there and let it boot... it just sits forever screen enver comes on
- [22:22:03] <ron_frown>
if I am hooked up to serial I see some message when I turn on the hdmi monitor
- [22:22:10] <ron_frown>
hit enter a few times and sure enough it comes online
- [22:22:26] <ron_frown>
message wasnt a prompt to hit enter, just specs on the monitor itself etc
- [22:22:35] <prpplague>
ron_frown: depends on what distro you are running and how the init process is setup
