  1. [00:06:55] * ben__ (46a4633e@gateway/web/freenode/ip.70.164.99.62) has joined #pandaboard
  2. [00:09:54] <ben__> hi all, hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I'm having issues with getting u-boot to read my SD card. I'm new to the panda board, it was briefly working when I was trying to setup ubuntu, that failed 1/2 way thru, now can't seem to boot any image I try. Googled around can't find anything to try.
  3. [00:11:11] <ben__> I get the following from u-boot: "mmc_send_cmd: timedout waiting for cmddis! ** Can't read from device 0 ** ** Unable to use mmc 0:1 for fatload **"
  4. [00:11:30] <ZeZu> try a different SD card
  5. [00:12:00] <ZeZu> or else its not setup correctly
  6. [00:12:55] * nighty^ (~nighty@69-165-220-105.dsl.teksavvy.com) has joined #pandaboard
  7. [00:12:56] <ZeZu> http://elinux.org/Panda_How_to_buildroot the second piece of code in there is a test to see if the card is setup correctly
  8. [00:13:15] <ZeZu> requires saving to a file and compiling w/ gcc
  9. [00:13:34] <ben__> I've tried two cards. I'll give that a try.
  10. [00:21:45] <ZeZu> from my understanding the x-loader code just looks in a static offset, so if you don't use the right setup in fdisk you get screwed .. IE: dos compatibility needs to be enabled for CHS mode, go through the full process and it should work fine..

  25. [01:20:51] <ben__> so I ran the SD card test program and it say "PASS". I did all the stuff with fdisk to setup the card with the correct HSC for Dos Compatibility. But u-boot can't see the partition table.
  26. [01:21:21] <ben__> Any other ideas?

  64. [05:22:09] <pq> any bootable image meant for panda, that is

  119. [08:02:02] <newb> hi
  120. [08:02:10] <newb> I have a question
  121. [08:02:32] <newb> I'm making a module for communication with FPGA
  122. [08:02:42] <newb> I'm using GPMC to communicate
  123. [08:03:12] <av500> good
  124. [08:03:17] <av500> write it all down
  125. [08:03:19] <newb> Then, in my program module_init() should call gpmc_init() first??
  126. [08:03:36] * mlocke (~Adium@nat/ti/x-upavtxognpjxlnpo) Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
  127. [08:03:42] <av500> does it still work if you dont?
  128. [08:04:14] <newb> I use gpmc_cs_set_timings() for timing settings and the "gpmc_l3_clk not enabled" message comes
  129. [08:04:30] <newb> I want to know the exact sequence of initialize
  130. [08:04:34] * mlocke (~Adium@nat/ti/x-ayojavihgrjarfsr) has joined #pandaboard
  131. [08:05:11] <newb> Now, my module_init() function calls gpmc_cs_request() and then calls gpmc_cs_set_timings()
  132. [08:05:20] <av500> and?
  133. [08:06:58] <newb> Here is all for now. I'm in making, but the message "gpmc_l3_clk not enabled" comes.
  134. [08:07:09] <newb> So I want to know exact sequence...
  135. [08:08:14] <av500> and do you call gpmc_init?
  136. [08:08:42] <newb> When I should call gpmc_init?
  137. [08:08:55] <av500> i dont know
  138. [08:08:56] <newb> First of module_init()?
  139. [08:09:40] <newb> Now, my program only call gpmc_cs_request and gpmc_cs_set_timings

  353. [13:56:57] <Godheart001> aaaa shit.. i cant beleive it.. pandaboard is the only development kit with arm cpu that will be good for my company research..

  355. [13:57:09] <av500> as i said
  356. [13:57:53] <Godheart001> the problem is that i talk from euro millions.. so it is too much time.. 4 weeks is good, but 15 weeks..

  653. [21:37:09] <puddles> mru: i/o bound in what way? the init work that is done is setting up interfaces, run some processes (that don't do any i/o) so the only i/o is in reading from mmcbk0p2 and that's about it ... you can start a bunch of these processes in parallel, get rid of shell scripts (which is the idea behind systemd)
  654. [21:38:07] <puddles> daniel: what about?
  655. [21:40:00] <mru> configuring interfaces implies reading the code to do so along with the settings files
