Getting Started

Unboxing PandaBoard

So you just received your PandaBoard and you may be wondering where to start... This is the right place to get going.

This video guide will help you get started booting your PandaBoard. Community support is available 24/7 on the IRC #pandaboard channel or via the mailing list.

 

Required Accessories
Desktop Mode -- Recommended Setup
  1. 5V power supply
  2. SD card 4GB+
  3. USB to Serial adapter or Serial cable
  4. Ubuntu (10.04+) host PC is recommened but any Linux debian-based system will work
  5. RJ45 ethernet cable
  6. USB cable (Mini-A to Type-A USB)
  7. DVI (HDMI Type-A to DVI-D) or HDMI (Type-A to Type-A)
  8. USB keyboard
  9. USB mouse
  10. Display with HDMI or DVI support

Note: If multiple displays are used, then both display cables are required.

Setting up your PandaBoard Hardware
Desktop Mode
  1. Connect your USB mouse and USB Keyboard
  2. Connect your ethernet cable
  3. Connect your HDMI cable to PandaBoard's HDMI-A Out and to your Display HDMI-A In (H2H) or other supported connection.
  4. Connect your Serial or USB serial adapter cable
  5. Insert your SD card with the image of the software distribution of your choice on it (Please look at http://omappedia.org for software distributions and instructions to burn it on the SD card)
  6. Do not connect the power supply yet; we will connect this in a later step
